The Charlie Fahl & Chuck Eddy
Science & Faith Memorial Scholarship Fund
Charlie Fahl was a professor of environmental science and academic dean at Alaska Pacific University, a long-time member of St. Mary's, and an enthusiastic outdoorsman with a passionate interest in theology. The Rev. Chuck Eddy was rector of St. Mary's for thirty years, from 1969-1999, and a man of great faith, great compassion, and great pragmatism. Charlie and Chuck, who both died in August 2020 during the COVID pandemic, were friends and golfing partners for decades. Among their many common interests was the strong belief that faith and science are complementary ways of knowing, and that they are in no way incompatible with each other.
In celebration of that shared belief and in commemoration of their lives of faith, learning, and service, a memorial scholarship has been created to benefit high school and college students pursuing further education in the fields of science or of theology and ministry - or both! We invite you to make a donation toward establishing an endowment to fund this scholarship in perpetuity, in honor of the life and work of these two kind souls. You can use the link below to donate online, or use the "Give" link at godsview.org; choose "Charlie Fahl/Chuck Eddy Scholarship Fund" from the drop-down menu.
