A Message from Choir Director Luke Honeck
Hello St. Mary's friends,
I have some exciting news to share with you all. Earlier this year, I applied to the master's voice program at the Eastman School of Music and have been accepted. This is an incredibly competitive program and I am so thankful to have made it in.
Unfortunately, this means that I will be leaving the St. Mary's community at the end of July. I have really enjoyed these past three years (including those months online when I was three time zones ahead of everyone else!). Working with all of you has taught me invaluable musicianship skills. I'm very proud of the progress we've made as a group. The dedication of our musicians is inspiring and something I look forward to every week.
While I will certainly miss being a part of our services, I'm looking forward to this new phase of my education. I hope what I take away from Eastman will make me a better performer, conductor, and teacher. I am also excited for the new opportunities that will come with a new choir director. New ideas are how we can continue bettering the world, ourselves, and our communities. I know you will welcome the new director with the same warm embrace with which you welcomed me.
I will work to make this transition as smooth as possible, so feel free to voice any questions or concerns!
All my best,
Luke
