Campus accessibility information
General building access information
Our main sanctuary building entrance is at ground level, with a heated front walkway and push-button automatic doors. The sanctuary and parish hall (Waldron Hall) are on this level, and the lower floor is accessible via stairway or elevator.
The main sanctuary seating is movable chairs rather than pews, which means that sometimes aisles may become cramped as the chairs are shifted around. Please do not hesitate to move chairs, or ask to have them moved, to improve your access.
Pillsbury Hall, the basement of the original A-frame church building, is accessible by ramp both from the left of the main entrance and from inside the main building. The church offices and chapel on the upper level are reached by interior stairway from Pillsbury Hall or by exterior sidewalk and ramps from the main parking lot.
Restroom access
There are large bathroom stalls with grab-bars in each restroom on the entrance level of the main building. There are large, non-gendered single-person stalls with grab-bars on the lower level, accessible via the nearby elevator, as well as child-sized toilets and restrooms elsewhere on the lower level.
Pillsbury Hall has two non-gendered single-stall toilets, but they are quite cramped and have no grab-bars. The office/chapel level does not have restrooms.
All adult restrooms are supplied with free menstrual products.
Vision assistance
Large-print copies of the service bulletins are usually available and may be added upon request. We do not currently have signage in Braille, or descriptive audio services.
Hearing assistance
The main texts of the service are printed in the bulletin, available at the door. The sermon is not in the bulletin, nor is it captioned; but printed copies may be available on the counter in the narthex (lobby) prior to the service.
Clergy, readers, and musicians use microphones during most services in the main sanctuary. There are assistive hearing devices available in a basket at the rear of the main sanctuary; please ask an usher or priest if you need assistance finding or using them.
ASL Interpretation
We do not have an ASL interpreter on staff, but we will provide ASL interpretation upon request. Please provide at least five days' notice so we can contact interpreters. Email our office manager to request an ASL interpreter.
Other needs
There are coloring pages, books, and other quiet activities located in the narthex; anyone is welcome to use them during services. We hope to offer a wider variety of quiet activity/fidget options in the near future.
People of all ages and support needs are always welcome in our services and in our sanctuary. For those who may want a more relaxed or private space in which to worship, there is a "Wiggle Room" adjacent to the sanctuary from which the service can be seen and heard. This space is available for hungry babies, restless children, or anyone for whom concern over causing (or the effort of preventing) a disruption to the service might create a barrier to attending.
At St. Mary's, we want to live up to our pledge that all are welcome here. If you use a wheelchair, cane, walker, or mobility scooter; are blind, deaf, or hard of hearing; or have other access needs, and would like information or support that is not included here, please submit a comment form using this link, and we will do our best to provide it.
