Elders play a vital role in the St. Mary’s community – they are keepers of wisdom and of our history, and they are among the most active in worship and ministry. You’ll find our elders in every aspect of life at St. Mary’s!

In recognition of the important role elders play in any community, and to support and promote elders in participating in parish life, in 2015 St. Mary’s founded the The Thomas Center for Senior Leadership, a housing community with 14 efficiency, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments available for rent to Alaskans age 60 and over.

While not a nursing or care facility, the Thomas Center was designed for accessibility, aging in place, and to promote active participation in all aspects of community life at all ages and levels of ability.
